This is only a small posting, I am incredibly tired today… as you might know, I have a rather… eclectic view on my Space Marines. As it is one of the greatest things about those plastic soldiers that there are so many varieties (and thus kits), I always want to take full advantage of that. Thus my Space Marines include conversions with parts of Black Templars (main troops), Dark Angels (Special Weapons), Blood Angels (some of my veteran troops) all mixed together.
As I employ my own backstory for my Space Marines (the highly honorable – and fairly unsuccessful – chapter of the Societas Imperatoris), I only need a codex for the rules… after a short time where I just used the usual Space Marines Codex, I switched for the Black Templar Codex, mainly because I liked the vows at that time and because I employ a load of Black Templar bitz on my models…
But, you know, for a long time I am pondering if I should switch the Codex again. It’s not the age of the book – for me it’s still working fine – but I have grown to dislike the lack of Librarians, Whirlwinds and other stuff I would like to bring into my army. So I am just now looking into my Space Marines Codices… so far I have ruled out the Blood Angels, they, too, are too restricted with the models they can choose and I dislike this whole “Space Vampires” thing… the Dark Angels are a strong contender, and of course the normal Space Marines are always an option…
The one codex (and line of kits) I mostly ignored so far are the Space Wolves, but I now think I should take a better look here, too, with some very exciting sculpts for Terminators and normal Marines… they would correspond well with other Sternguard/Vanguard units I have… the codex would surely be a challenge to adapt to my models, but they would include some sort of Librarians (for which I could – and would – employ the models I want, of course)… and of course the new Thunderwolf Cavalry would be a fine extra…
Well, I will take my time, no need to rush my decision… but I will keep you posted on that…
