Today I had a really frustrating day at work, one of those where you’re really wondering, why…? But then, I still want to keep my actual life out of this Blog…
So, just a quick nostalgic read… some time ago I stumbled upon this old, but interesting interview with Tuomas Pirinen. Pirinen was one of the best contributors the White Dwarf ever had, back in the 90s… he also wrote or co-wrote a load of supplements for the 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy (among them the famous-infamous card-based Warhammer Magic). Later he was lead developer for the 6th edition of Warhammer Fantasy and especially of Mordheim, in my humble opinion the single best game that Games Workshop has ever published (along with 40K and BloodBowl, but in my heart, Mordheim comes first, even though I haven’t played it for many years… shame on me – but when you see these prices…). Rather abruptly he left Games Workshop in 2000/2001 to work for Computer Games publishers (I think he now works at Ubisoft, but I’m not sure and to tired to check). With him, Games Workshop lost one of the best designers they ever had – and the last stout supporter for Chaos Dwarves as well…
The interview must date from 2001, shortly after Pirinen had left GW. It is friendly and nonchalant, but in many ways one can find subtle undertones of criticism at GW development towards a company only looking at its profit…
